Bliesgau: scattered fruit and fun strays

The location alone is a dream: the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve is located in the southeast of the Saarland on the border with the French Lorraine. The beautiful hiking trails in the floodplain landscapes, the culinary offerings: it doesn't get much better than that.

In the Bliesgau, people think holistically: such a biosphere reserve is always initiated by UNESCO and ensures sustainable developments in the respective region in ecological and economic, but also in social terms. The premium hiking trail Blies-Grenzweg, for example, starts in Kleinblittersdorf-Sitterswald and runs for 16 kilometers past meadow orchards to the French farming village of Blies-Guersviller. For cyclists, the well-marked Saar Cycle Path or the Saar-Nahe Easter Path are available - and the refreshment stops in the sometimes almost primeval forest-like Bliesgau Biosphere provide ample breaks anyway.
