Because if there's one thing that one of Germany's most popular North Sea resorts has in abundance, it's the so-called "stiff breeze" that provides refreshment here all year round. However, that doesn't mean that true St. Peter Ording lovers will let it spoil their bathing pleasure on the beach: After all, anyone who gets involved in the "North Sea spa and sulfur bath" in the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park usually knows what to expect: Twelve kilometers of beach namely on a width of up to 2 kilometers - and rarely a sunburn! And anyone who makes it from the promenade to close to the water has already passed a fitness test.
Jaja, the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea: Rubber boots, stiff breeze and the rustic mudflat hike - these are roughly the things that come to mind when you hear the term Wadden Sea immediately come to mind. As a worthwhile nature excursion destination, the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea is one of the biggest attractions in the entire state. The Wadden Sea is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve anyway, but it is also an official bird sanctuary and flora-fauna habitat of the EU. And what does it actually include? Quite simply, the national park stretches from the German-Danish maritime border in the north to the mouth of the Elbe in the south. Another fact: With an area of over 4410 km², it is the largest national park between the North Cape and Sicily. Wow! If you want to experience the fascination of the Wadden Sea, it is best to take a short boat trip to the islands and Halligen in the Wadden Sea and visit one of the many seal banks: they are by far the most popular inhabitants of the Wadden Sea.
