Climate friendly travel
By train and without traffic jams comfortably to Waren an der Müritz.
Of course, the Müritz National Park with its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the numerous lakes of the Mecklenburg Lake District attract visitors - but many manor houses are also worth a visit.
Due to the comfortable train journey and the free mobility on site with the "MÜRITZ rundum" guest card you can enjoy your vacation environmentally friendly.
What do you do on Europe's largest inland waterway with over 1000 bathing and fishing lakes? Exactly: water sports and water fun. A floating vacation apartment is a good choice: Whether pontoon boat or classic houseboat - If the boats are no more than 15 meters long and do not travel faster than 12 kilometers per hour, a driver's license is not even required; after a detailed briefing, a charter license is issued. We recommend interested leisure captains to start with a tour on the Müritz, the largest inland lake in Germany with more than 112 km2. But of course also Lake Kölpin, Lake Fleesen, Lake Malchow or Lake Plauer See about numerous summer guests on board. Especially since - and this should not go unmentioned - interesting excursions ashore are always tempting: Those who dock in Mirow, for example, can take a look at a chic historical baroque castle on the castle island and also have a good time with or about Ole, the most popular harbor master in the entire lake district.
Attractive destinations can be found not only on the water, not even in the Mecklenburg Lake District. If you leaf through the "Excursion map to 100 manor houses and estates" in the region, you will get a small taste of Mecklenburg's stately past. In many of these houses you can also spend the night or at least dine excellently. Those who stay at Ulrichshusen Castle, for example, or in a baroque manor house from the 17th century, the Ludorf Manor House, know how the landed gentry felt in the old days - and have plenty to talk about back home.
