Climate friendly travel
By train and without traffic jams comfortably to the Müritz and the Mecklenburg Lake District.
Always been a bit of a lake addict? Then this region is just right. Besides water fun, there are also great hiking trails, the most beautiful starry sky and a forest full of wild bears.
With the Müritz and more than 1000 other natural inland waters, Central Europe's largest closed lake area - the Mecklenburg Lake District - is located in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. In its core, the lake kingdom is about the size of Saarland, and everywhere between green forests and rolling hills the sparkling blue water glitters and sparkles. Quite tempting, just for bathing and relaxing in the sun. Or should it be a little more? No problem, there is plenty to do for active vacationers.
Boating of course, Water hiking by canoe for example in the area of the Mecklenburg Lake District or the Feldberg lake landscape, past quiet reed belts and wooded steep banks. Or Stand-up paddling on the calm, warm Fleesensee, in many places in the region boards can be rented as well as canoes, kayaks and sailboats. Or simply be a captain on a veritable houseboat. After a short briefing, you can steer the floating accommodation without a license, for example across the Müritz, Germany's largest inland lake. Gliding calmly over the calm, wide water, gently swaying in the hammock, watching the clouds and birds - wonderful. And after jumping into the water, moor up somewhere for sightseeing - the bed for a restful night is patiently waiting on board.

By bike on the Müritz circular route. In the hilly landscape of Mecklenburg Switzerland, shaped by the ice age, with historic estate villages and manor houses. On pilgrimage through dense beech forests to old churches and castles. And how is it in the fall? Mecklenburg Must Sees: the lake district in autumn
The special tip: Have you ever observed wild bears in the wild? That goes great in the Bear forest Müritz in the heart of the lake district, where the mighty predators have a species-appropriate habitat.
