Plauer See near Brandenburg a.d. Havel - All in the boat?

In summer, Lake Plauer See - please don't confuse it with its big brother of the same name on the Mecklenburg Lake District - presents itself as a colorful water sports idyll for relaxed individualists. Numerous houseboats float past the shores at a snail's pace - please always wave back to the freshwater captains! 

What a beautiful picture this is: anyone standing by the old Havel bridge - itself a steel-truss Art Nouveau beauty 130 meters long and 10 meters wide - won't have to wait long for it. One, two or even three of the snazzy houseboats that ply the waters of the Brandenburg lake district during the summer season will already be passing by, giving you an idea of how relaxing such a summer retreat on the Havel can be.

Fast they are really not, these colorful, sometimes creatively shaped water snails, but that's just as well. In this way, the casual leisure lake people on the houseboats can observe without rushing what beauties show themselves on the tame trip past the shores of Lake Plau. The Plau Castle, for example, today a hotel with a magnificent castle park, on which probably the oldest clay pigeon shooting range (!) in Germany is located. It was built in terraces in the 19th century and is still a curious attraction today. If you look closely, you might also recognize the Havel Chalet from the water, which belongs to the castle and is a kind of floating luxury suite - befitting its status with a canoe for excursions on the lake. Of course, you can also hike around Lake Plauer See: the Plauer Fontane Trail is popular and features 11 stops that in one way or another have to do with the personal experiences of the poet prince ("Herr von Ribbeck auf Ribbeck im Havelland...): From the Havel bridge to the retro clay pigeon shooting range, everything is there - even a monument to the poet himself.
